New Game Wire publishes gaming news, previews and practical guides. This policy describes the standards we aim to follow and how readers can flag mistakes.
Sources and verification
We prioritize official announcements, developer and publisher posts, platform support documentation, and product or store listings for release dates, platform availability, subscriptions and technical instructions. Stories should link to the source that supports a claim. Regional prices, access rules and service availability can differ and should be identified when relevant.
Unconfirmed information should be identified as unconfirmed. Analysis and interpretation should not be presented as an official statement. A source link alone does not guarantee that an article’s interpretation is correct; readers can use the corrections process below to challenge it.
AI assistance and illustrations
Our publishing workflow includes AI-assisted research, outlining and drafting. AI output can contain mistakes and should be checked against the cited material. We do not treat another outlet’s wording as original reporting or claim firsthand access that we did not have.
AI-generated editorial illustrations are labeled as such. Unless specifically identified otherwise, they are conceptual artwork, not gameplay screenshots, official promotional images or accurate depictions of console menus.
Previews, comparisons and practical guides
Previews based on public footage or documentation should say what the analysis is based on. Hands-on testing, interviews or review access should only be claimed when they actually occurred. Comparisons should explain the tradeoffs and relevant costs rather than inventing test results. Guides should identify important limitations and avoid presenting a destructive reset as a routine first step.
Dates and updates
Publication and update dates appear on articles. Information such as prices, game catalogs, release dates and software menus can change. Material updates should explain the changed information. We do not change an article’s publication date merely to make old coverage appear new.
Corrections
Email [email protected] with the article URL, the disputed claim and supporting evidence. When a factual error is confirmed, we correct it. A material correction should include a note explaining what changed; minor spelling or formatting fixes may be made without a separate note.
Commercial relationships
Paid placements, affiliate links, review access or other material relationships should be clearly disclosed in the relevant story when present. Editorial coverage should not imply an endorsement or a commercial relationship that does not exist.
