Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5—officially the Edgerunners 2 Update—is available today, October 22, on PC, Mac through Steam, GOG and Epic, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It adds dual-wielded pistols and revolvers, cross-platform mod support, two new side quests, hand-cyberware customization, 12 Minor Arcana cards, console field-of-view controls, grouped save files, new clothing and hairstyles, and an Edgerunners-themed radio station.

Nintendo Switch 2 and the Mac App Store version will receive the update in the days following the initial launch. CD Projekt Red has not provided an exact date for those delayed versions, so Switch 2 and Mac App Store players should not assume the patch is available until their store or game displays version 2.5.

The schedule and features come from CD Projekt Red’s official Update 2.5 patch notes. The patch is free for owners of a supported version of Cyberpunk 2077.

Dual wielding adds a new pistol and revolver build

The headline gameplay change is the new Double Trouble perk in the Cool skill tree. It allows V to dual-wield Power-category pistols and revolvers. Four supporting perks expand that playstyle.

This is not described as a universal two-weapon system. The official notes specify Power pistols and revolvers, so players should not expect to pair any two guns, combine arbitrary weapon categories, or automatically dual-wield every iconic sidearm.

Anyone starting an existing high-level save should inspect the Cool tree after installing the update rather than assuming the perk is already active. A dual-wield build needs the relevant perk investment and compatible weapons. CD Projekt Red also added Photo Mode poses designed for the two-gun style.

Cross-platform mods come to consoles through mod.io

Update 2.5 introduces an in-game Mods panel powered by mod.io. Players can browse and install a curated selection of community-created content directly from the game instead of handling files through a desktop mod manager.

The feature is listed for:

  • Windows PC
  • Mac
  • PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro
  • Xbox Series X|S
  • Nintendo Switch 2

This does not mean consoles receive every existing PC mod. CD Projekt Red calls the feature a first step and says more supported mods will become available over time. Console security, performance, file-access, platform, and content restrictions make this a selected catalog rather than unrestricted access to the entire PC modding scene.

There is also an important achievement warning: modded saves are marked with a dedicated icon, and the official notes state that achievements and trophies cannot be earned while playing a modded save on console. Players chasing a platinum trophy or Gamerscore should keep an unmodded playthrough available.

How to start the new Clampdown quest

Clampdown is a new side quest set before the events of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. It connects V with Weak Kingsley and his crew during a job involving a new location, Night City Prison.

To unlock Clampdown:

  1. Complete The Heist.
  2. Complete any two gigs for Wakako.
  3. Wait for a message from Wakako.

The quest rewards a five-piece gear set based on King. CD Projekt Red’s Xbox Wire article also identifies his signature revolver, Coronation, as an obtainable item during the new content.

Players who load a save meeting the requirements may still need to let in-game time pass, move to another district, or continue playing until the message arrives. The official trigger includes waiting for Wakako’s contact; it is not necessarily placed in the journal immediately after installing the update.

Welcome to Paradise adds a guided Night City tour

The second new quest, Welcome to Paradise, focuses on Night City itself. It follows a mystery and guided tour narrated by the city’s late founder, Richard Night.

Its requirements are:

  • Complete The Heist.
  • Reach Street Cred level 15.

The update also places 12 new Minor Arcana tarot cards around Night City. Scanning any one of them activates an extension of Fool on the Hill. The Tarot menu now separates Major and Minor Arcana, and collecting the complete new set grants a special reward.

These are separate additions even though both encourage another trip through established areas. Welcome to Paradise is a guided narrative quest; the tarot activity is a collectible quest triggered by scanning a new card.

Edgerunners 2 gear, music and clothing

Update 2.5 adds content tied to the second anime without requiring players to watch it first. The Clampdown quest is a prequel, and CD Projekt Red says it can provide additional context before Episode 1 without spoiling the series.

The new Edgerunners content includes:

  • The Clampdown side quest
  • A five-piece King-inspired gear set
  • King’s Coronation revolver
  • HKGN 102.0 FM, featuring music from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and Edgerunners 2
  • Trading Card Game frames for Photo Mode

Beyond the direct anime material, five outfit sets are arriving through selected vendors. Four are available immediately through Maxiwear, Jinguji, NetWatch, and IconAmerica vendors, while CD Projekt Red says one additional set will reach stores later.

The previously available NUS Infiltrator clothing set can now be purchased from vendors in Kabuki and Japantown. Four Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech TWINTONE skins are available through Twitch Drops, which means they are promotional rewards rather than standard vendor purchases.

Hand cyberware can finally be customized

Players can now change the appearance of equipped hand and arm cyberware. Supported equipment includes:

  • Mantis Blades
  • Gorilla Arms
  • Monowire
  • Projectile Launch System

Five new Glamdocs are marked by spray-paint icons on the map. Each operates from a distinct shop with its own introduction and catalog of cyberware skins and colors.

The update also unlocks hairstyles previously restricted to NPCs. Some remain tied to masculine or feminine body types, so not every style appears for every version of V. CD Projekt Red’s Xbox Wire overview says the wider customization update includes 20 new hairstyles and 40 cyberware styles in different colors.

Console players get an FOV slider

PS5 and Xbox Series players can now adjust field of view. A wider setting exposes more of the scene at once, while a narrower setting can make distant objects occupy more screen space.

Field of view can affect comfort, situational awareness, image composition, and performance. CD Projekt Red does not promise identical results at every setting, so console users should adjust gradually and choose the view that remains comfortable and stable on their display.

PS5 also receives a fix for an HDR-settings problem that could prevent adjustments from taking effect. The patch includes broader HDR rendering changes intended to improve color, brightness, and contrast on compatible displays.

Save files and stashes are easier to manage

The Load Game menu now groups saves by playthrough. Players with multiple versions of V no longer need to treat every manual and automatic save as one continuous list.

Apartment and vehicle stashes receive item filters, making large collections easier to search. Modded saves display a special icon, which should help players avoid opening the wrong file when maintaining separate vanilla and modded runs.

Before installing a major update, manually save in a safe location and allow the platform’s cloud-save synchronization to finish. That is a precaution, not a claim that Update 2.5 normally erases progress.

Cyberpunk 2077 now supports Xbox Play Anywhere

The Xbox digital edition now carries Xbox Play Anywhere support. One eligible purchase supplies access on Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC through the Xbox ecosystem, while compatible saves move between the two under the same Microsoft account.

This does not turn a Steam, GOG, Epic, or physical Xbox purchase into a Microsoft Store PC license. Play Anywhere follows the participating Xbox/Microsoft digital entitlement.

Our Xbox Play Anywhere explainer covers eligible purchases, save synchronization, DLC, achievements, Windows handhelds, discs, and storefront limits.

PC and Mac technology changes

Update 2.5 adds or revises several graphics technologies:

  • DLSS 4.5 support, including up to 6X Multi Frame Generation or Dynamic Multi Frame Generation and the second-generation Transformer Model
  • Glasses-free 3D effects for compatible Samsung Odyssey 3D monitors
  • A Motion Comfort setting for adjusting 3D depth and comfort
  • MetalFX Frame Interpolation support
  • An FSR Anti-Lag 2 toggle
  • Updated FSR choices: FSR 2.1 and FSR 4 remain, along with FSR 3.1 Frame Generation; FSR 3 upscaling is removed
  • Performance optimizations for ray tracing

Those features still depend on compatible hardware, drivers, operating systems, displays, and store builds. The presence of DLSS 4.5 in the patch notes does not mean every Nvidia GPU supports every new mode, and the Samsung 3D option requires an appropriate monitor.

Other notable Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 fixes

CD Projekt Red highlights the following fixes:

  • Nintendo Switch 2 saves should no longer produce an insufficient-space error under the addressed condition.
  • The Delamain cab in Things Done Changed should no longer become stuck after a collision and block progression.
  • Film Grain should now respond when enabled.
  • Tagging enemies should no longer make V crouch or stand under affected controller layouts.
  • Missing third-person camera controller settings have been restored.
  • Several localization typos have been corrected.
  • Additional fixes address content introduced since Patch 2.1.

The Switch 2 fix is part of the update even though that platform receives version 2.5 after the initial October 22 rollout.

Do you need Phantom Liberty for Update 2.5?

CD Projekt Red presents Update 2.5 as a free update to Cyberpunk 2077 on supported platforms, not as a Phantom Liberty expansion patch that requires purchasing the DLC. The official notes do not list Phantom Liberty as a requirement for the headline features and quests.

Individual items or interactions elsewhere in the game may still depend on story progress, character level, platform, or existing content. For the two new quests, the stated gates are The Heist plus two Wakako gigs for Clampdown, and The Heist plus Street Cred 15 for Welcome to Paradise.

What should returning players do first?

  1. Confirm the game reports version 2.5 before loading an important save.
  2. Create a fresh manual save and let cloud synchronization finish.
  3. Check the Cool skill tree if you want the Double Trouble build.
  4. Complete The Heist and the required Wakako gigs if Clampdown does not trigger.
  5. Visit a Glamdoc to inspect cyberware skins.
  6. Keep an unmodded console save if achievements or trophies matter.
  7. Use the new playthrough groups and stash filters to organize older characters.

Xbox owners planning to move between console and PC should verify that they own or can access the Xbox/Microsoft version before relying on Play Anywhere. Players comparing local installations with streaming can use our Xbox Remote Play vs. Cloud Gaming guide.

The short version

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 is a substantial free update rather than a cosmetic anime tie-in. Dual wielding changes combat builds, mod.io brings supported community mods to current consoles, two quests add reasons to revisit Night City, and the new customization and inventory tools improve long-running saves.

PC, supported Mac storefronts, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S receive it today. Nintendo Switch 2 and the Mac App Store version follow in the coming days. PS4 and Xbox One are not part of the current update.

This article reflects CD Projekt Red’s official patch notes and Xbox Wire’s availability announcement checked October 22, 2026. New Game Wire has not presented the update as a hands-on review.
